Terence Crawford has delivered a stunning upset, defeating undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Álvarez by unanimous decision at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, marking a historic milestone in boxing.

The American boxer, moving up two weight divisions to face the Mexican star, dominated the early rounds, troubling Canelo through the first seven before the champion mounted a late comeback in a thrilling 12-round contest. Judges scored it 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 in Crawford’s favor, preserving his perfect 42-0 record while dropping Canelo to 63-3-2.

This victory makes Crawford the first male boxer in the four-belt era to hold all titles at light-welterweight, welterweight, and now super-middleweight, per The New York Times, adding Canelo’s name to a list of notable foes like Errol Spence Jr., Shawn Porter, and Kell Brook.

Reflecting on the win, Crawford told a Netflix reporter, “Canelo is a great champion. I have nothing but respect for him, and he fought like a champion today,” while leaving his future plans open: “I’ll sit down with my team and talk about it. Thank you to all of my supporters and haters.”

Canelo, gracious in defeat, said, “I’m a winner for being here. There is no defeat here. If we do it again, it will be great,” praising Crawford’s skill and affirming his own legacy.
